BEGINNING CONSONANT SOUNDS

 

Consonants are the letters: b, c, d, f, g, h, j, k, l, m, n, p, q, r, s, t, v, w, x, y, z.

 

Beginning consonants make the sounds that come at the beginning of words. Sometimes referred to as intial consonants.

 

ENDING CONSONANT SOUNDS

 

Ending consonants make the souds that come at the end of words that are not vowel sounds. Sometimes referred to as final consonants.

 

*Suggestion For an activity you can use imported pictures to assist the reader in identifying the beginning and ending consonants in words. You may want to consider using pictures of words from the reading selection or the vocabulary list as well.
